Yard Drainage Solutions in Old Greenwich, CT

Stormwater Inspection & Repair in Old Greenwich, CT

Usually, there’s a solution to yard drainage problems. A well-draining property slopes gently and gradually away from the house, descending six inches over the initial ten feet surrounding the foundation (with another foot of slope over the next 100 feet). If that’s not true in your case—if, say, your property actually sits below that of the neighbors’ and the street—re-grading the terrain is the logical step, but it’s not a do-it-yourself job.

After an abnormally heavy rainfall, any yard can be expected to be a bit swampy, but if yours consistently hosts standing water, then you’re right to pursue yard drainage solutions. Each of these are designed to divert excess water from where it poses a problem to an area where it can more freely seep into the soil. If you're located in Old Greenwich, CT - Let CT Stormwater Authority ease your mind of your underground drains, yard pooling, and stormwater system maintenance in Old Greenwich, CT

With our engineer, we designed a solution. Our design included a number of features. A gallery of 12 CULTEC 330XLHD stormwater chambers to store an incredible amount of water, new oversized copper gutters rerouted into underground drains, a berm along one landline to keep out surface runoff and a yard drain at a critical low point in the yard that is historically troubled. We also modified and rerouted the pre-existing sump pump to directly tie into our new CULTEC system.

This customer sourced us for a solution because they were taking on water from all directions. They were incurring water from the neighbor's yards, their own rain gutters were discharging close to their house and pooling aside the foundation and their pre-existing sump pump was not sending collected water far enough away from the house. This is an Old Greenwich property and many Old Greenwich and other shoreline neighborhoods in Greenwich have experienced flooding, especially in recent years. Tropical Storm Ike and Hurricane Ida just a few weeks apart in summer 2021 put many properties over their "tipping point" with flooding. These customers needed a storm water drainage solution.

Another pipe found that lead to nowhere. This pipe was just emptying water into the soil below the surface. We located and excavated the pipe and then made all the necessary repairs.
